„I am involved in the economic analysis of law and public policies, ranging from theoretical approaches (science) and practical implementations to journalistic engagements (such as being a guest in the media). My primary focus is on issues related to intellectual property, especially copyrights and patents. I believe that the highest efficiency is achieved in managing intangible assets, which are built on business models that rely on extensive conditional sharing.

I earned my Ph.D. in Economics from the Cracow University of Economics, following the public defense of my thesis supervised by Prof. Jerzy Hausner, titled “Economic and Social Analysis of Inventions Protection Law”. I also hold two master’s degrees, one in Administration and the other in Law, both from Jagiellonian University. Additionally, I have completed barrister training and am registered on the list of barristers. Furthermore, I have been involved in numerous scientific and implementation projects, serving as a law and economics expert.

I currently work as an assistant professor in the Department of Public Economy and Administration at the Cracow University of Economics. Additionally, I am active in a think tank named the “Centre for Analysis of the Jagiellonian Club”. I also run a blog about the economic analysis of law at bartlomiejbiga.pl, where I hope to add more English content soon.

My specializations and scientific interests include:

  • law and economics
  • intellectual property law (mostly: inventions protection and copyrights)
  • efficiency of public policies
  • functioning of public administration – mostly in the context of flexibility and predictability
  • managing of companies’ intangible assets
  • supporting better legislation
  • economy of culture

My passions are: art-rock music, Bridge and new technologies.
